Dynamic Management of the European Airspace Network
Partnership for Network Performance
The SES II regulation calls for a Network Management Function to be up and running in 2011. The EUROCONTROL Agency is organising itself to meet Stakeholder requirements for this function. Many elements are already in place, and were subject of improvement projects as part of the DMEAN Framework Programme. The network approach, short/medium term deployment of improvements for the benefit of the network performance, the consolidated planning, reporting and resolving issues where required, were and still are key characteristics of DMEAN.

The Agency’s “Network” stand at ATC Global provides an excellent overview of those DMEAN activities that are also key elements for providing the formal network support & coordination function that is being established: Capacity Planning and Network Design, Airspace utilisation and Network optimisation, Airport-Network Integration, a central Airspace Data Repository to support the operational processes including flight planning, and the NOP Portal to provide and interact with all relevant network information. The Network Management approach will provide a new mechanism through which the DMEAN, FEP and other network improvements will be addressed and deployed. We are prepared!
