with its 16 partners and ensure the programme’s successful development. SESAR’s innovative work to build the future European air traffic management system and to fit it within a global context is well underway and will deliver important benefits to society and airspace users alike.

EUROCONTROL in the SESAR partnership

successfully managed the SESAR Definition Phase, leading to the endorsement of the ATM Master Plan; contributes €700 million to the SESAR Development Phase - one-third of the total effort and budget; provides ATM expertise to all SESAR work packages (WP) and is directly involved in 200 projects; has a leading role in the work packages related to building a pan-European network:
Network Operations (WP 7): preparing and supporting trajectory-based operations including airspace management, collaborative flight planning and the network operations plan Network Information Management Systems (WP 13): doing R&D tasks related to the Network Information Management System (NIMS), the Advanced Airspace Management System (AAMS) and the Aeronautical Information Management System (AIMS) R&D Transversal Areas (WP 16): adapting the Transversal Area (TA) (safety, security, environment, contingency, human performance and cost-benefit assessment) management system practices to SESAR, paving the way towards an integrated management system Long-term and Innovative Research (WP E): carrying out research activities addressing applications to become operational beyond the SESAR 2020 timeframe, as well as allowing for innovative work to be applied in the nearer term Master Plan Maintenance (WP C): monitoring the progress of work for its development and implementation; preparing the necessary updates to the European ATM Master Plan

will support and facilitate the implementation of the SESAR Deployment Phase due to start in 2014.
